I see affiliate programs been run all the time you can even get fake AdSense Report generators now this is all you see and you will never earn with these affiliate programs because they all look the same and you can tell they are a scam straight away because they try to convince you too much As for the owners of these programs just look at joel comm how many made money from him I would say very Few.

I don't think it will take people too long to work out that traffic exchanges don't work for affiliate programs links - all they need to do is surf for a few credits and look at the results - which will be ZERO

After all most traffic exchange program owners are only running a traffic exchange because they never made any money when they used to surf themselves i.e. why not sell traffic to all these guys that are crazy enough to think that the traffic will actually work

I like your point about people joining the "latest craze" - the "newest thing" just launched. Why doesnt it work for you? If too many people promote the same thing then the results will be split between thousands, and the small guy will be left with very little

Its better to find the kind of program that is working quite well but isnt splattered everywhere. The competition is less so you have more chance. Maybe people ignore it thinking it doesnt work, maybe the graphics arn't that good or the site looks a bit dated, but no matter the program turns in sales for average affiliates every month. I could tell you of any number of programs I've found like this that generate a commission for me every month - even using traffic exchanges

So the bottom line is yes it does take time - another good point made above - but if you surf intelligently and concentrate on whats actually working, then you can succeed with your chosen home business

I believe the biggest problem that the traffic exchange industry is facing or had been facing is that there are way too many tire kickers/freebie junkies/getrichquick people compare to those who are serious about running an online business.

You see most rookie TE affiliates/newbies don't have any clue how to run a real business. Some of those people have flipped burgers all their lives and you want them to learn how run a business? come on. It is not that easy. My sister ran a pizza joint in our local mall for years and my family help out alot and I cannot begin to describe the insanity of running a business. It's not that different online.

Of course there's so much more that the traffic exchange owners are not telling us such as demographics and statistics.

Take care.

Great post, Tyler
I totally agree that you shouldn't promote your affiliate link directly.
Standing out from the crowd and building your own list are sure-fire ways at succeeding with traffic exchanges.

To quote the blog entry, "using traffic exchanges to send traffic to an affiliate link is exactly what you DO NOT WANT TO DO!". Isn't TrafficEra a traffic exchange? What happens when all those members who are using TrafficEra to promote their affiliate link decide to follow this advice? Isn't your membership going to drop like a rock?
Hopefully, this is not simply to promote TrafficEra, instead of sharing knowledge that can be used at other traffic exchanges, including TrafficEra, of course.
I eagerly await the upcoming entries.

I'm looking forward to the next post. Have a hunch you will write about how you need to build your list using traffic exchanges :)

Hello Tyler

I am looking forward to your future thoughts.

Traffic exchanges are full of 'newbies' who are floundering. Hopefully they will read, think and act on your information. The 'pogo sticking' through cyberspace is almost like a disease....it just keeps spreading.
Cheers!

Right On! Tell it like it is. We can take it. It is easier to learn how to do things right. than it is to do the wrong thing over and over getting little or no results. I was very frustrated with my traffic exchange results for months. I gave up many times, but kept coming back to traffic exchanges. Because it is a simple and inexpensive way to target advertise. Once you know how to do it right.
